Rock Art Research Education™ established in 1987, is a rock art management firm providing expertise to a variety of government and private agencies.
Greg Bettis, founder of Rock Art Research Education™, is a conservationist of Pacific Northwest prehistoric Indian Rock Art). He has actively recorded, mapped, and documented many sites in the Pacific Northwest. Over the years, the deterioration of these fragile petroglyphs (carvings) and pictographs (paintings) has increased due to vandalism. RARE™ was formed to help to educate the public and preserve and document this fragile art.

Many rock art sites can be found in and around the Pacific Northwest. The art dates from several hundred years to thousands of years old. The meaning of Indian Rock Art) is still a mystery. These images are essence, like a window into the mind and spirit of the people who created the art. It is a form of visual communication that depicts the beliefs, lifestyles and ceremonies of the Native American culture.
Rock Art Research Education™ is an advocate for the protection of rock art through education. RARE™ also has provided services to Pacific Northwest schools, museums, interpretive centers and other interested groups. Through education RARE™ promotes the value for protection of these cultural resources, as well as the marketing of educational rock art related materials.
